Initially serving the Anchorage area, Alaska Behavioral Health expanded its reach to Fairbanks and developed specialized programs over the decades. The establishment of the Alaska Child Trauma Center in 2005 marked a significant advancement in trauma-informed care for children and youth across the state.

In 2013, Fairbanks Community Mental Health Services became part of ACMHS, further integrating services and resources. The organization has consistently sought to adapt and expand its services to meet the evolving mental health needs of Alaskans.
