Coalition for Residential Education, Inc, aka CORE

Founded in 1994, CORE's mission is to represent, advocate, and strengthen residential education programs for children and youth whose homes cannot meet their needs. CORE passionately believes high-quality residential education should be added to the scarce options currently available to these children, their families, and our communities.CORE supports the development of high-quality residential education programs through: Advocacy Professional Practices Public Awareness Capacity-Building through Collaboration Information and Resources Residential education is an umbrella term for community-likesettings where at-risk children live and learn together, outside theirhomes, within stable, supportive environments. Whether called a prepschool, children’s home, boarding or residential charter school,residential education is a viable and important option for thousands ofchildren, particularly teenagers. Residential education serves childrenseverely challenged by homelessness, abuse, neglect, and low-income,high-crime neighborhoods.Residential education is one of a number of solutions for at-riskchildren. Long recognized as a desirable model for children from moreaffluent families, residential education affords at-risk children asimilar opportunity - helping them navigate a solid course in career,relationships…and in life.
