Shelter Tech
ShelterTech is a San Francisco non-profit working to connect those in need with services. We envision a vibrant community where everyone has equitable and effective access to a wide range of no-cost human services, regardless of their status, income, or circumstances. To deliver on that vision, we work to reduce barriers for those in need by connecting them with human services and opportunities empowering them to live happier, healthier lives. Darcel Jackson founded ShelterTech after he was injured on the job as a welder and became unhoused. He envisioned technology serving those who need it most, which is central to our ethos today. Our programs target three problems faced by the unhoused: poor access to the internet, difficulty finding reliable information about services, and the digital divide separating the tech community and underserved communities.

Thousands of San Franciscans use ShelterTech39s service guide and freeinternet access everyday. Together with the City of San Francisco our community partners and people with lived experience of homelessness we are reducing the barriers for those in need to access the internet and find the resources they need. Three solutions to expand access to opportunities ShelterTech is a volunteerled nonprofit focused on providing access to resources for the most vulnerable populations in San Francisco and the Bay Area.
