East Union Dollars for Scholars was organized in 1991 by community members in the towns of Afton, Arispe, Shannon City, Thayer and Lorimor with the purpose of assisting graduates pursue post-secondary education. All graduating seniors of East Union Community School are eligible to apply by completing an online application. A scholarship selection committee with members from each community meet to select scholarship recipients that are presented at Commencement in May. Our organization has a variety of scholarships (memorials and endowments) for students pursuing a variety of careers. As of May 2021, we have awarded over $243,000 in scholarships.
