The Hindu Temple Society of Capital District, was founded in 1976 and is located in Loudonville, NY. It is a place of worship by Hindu devotees in and around Capital District and also visitors from other areas and all over the world. Albany Hindu Temple is unique because all segments of Hindu Community have a special place for worship of their own with Ganesha, Lakshmi Narayana, Shiva, Parvathi, Shrinathji, Radha Krishna, Swaminarayana, Navagrahas, Nageswara, Saraswati, Durga, Buddha, Iyyappa Swamy, Mahavira, Shri Rama Parivara and Subramanya . Religious discourses and cultural activities are held at the temple and all major Hindu religious festivals are celebrated. The temple offers variety of regular religious services at the temple and at individual homes and offices, on request by well trained and qualified priests . Albany Hindu temple is centrally located between Boston and Buffalo and Montreal and New York City.The Hindu Cultural Center is dedicated to enhancing and preserving Hindu culture, fine arts, and social services through various activities, such as:1. Heritage Class: teaches children 5 years to 16 years of age about Hindu religion, culture and spiritual values. So far we have about 100 students enrolled in this class held on Sunday 10:45 AM to Noon from September through June.2. Dance Classes: both Classical (Bharatnatyam, Kathak) and Modern (Bollywood)3. Music Classes: Carnatic music, Tabla, Violin, etc.4. Yoga Classes:5. Meditation Classes:6. Spiritual Discourses: Art of Living, Brahama Kumari, Swadhyay7. Celebration of all festivals (jointly with Temple): such as Holi, Janamashtami, Diwali, Dussera, and many more; these celebrations allow our community to experience the joy of our heritage and culture.8. Social Services: Free Medical clinic, Women Connection, Programs to benefit Seniors.9. Sunday Brunch: run by volunteers on every Sunday at 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM from September through June10.
