TOM LANTOS FOUNDATION FOR HUMAN RIGHTS AND JUSTICE

Lantos Foundation

We were established to carry on Tom Lantos' proud legacy as an ardent champion for human rights. The Lantos Foundation for Human Rights & Justice was established to carry on Congressman Tom Lantos' proud legacy as a leading advocate for American engagement in human rights globally. Established in 2008, the Lantos Foundation for Human Rights and Justice continues the legacy of Congressman Tom Lantos, the only Holocaust survivor ever elected to the U.S. Congress and a leading human rights champion. He often said, “The veneer of civilization is paper thin. We are its guardians, and we can never rest.” We claim this motto and strive to stand as tireless guardians defending global human rights with a range of partners, often in cooperation with the U.S. and other governments. Key focus areas include the Rule of Law, International Religious Freedom, Internet Freedom and Political Prisoners.

The Lantos Foundation for Human Rights Justice was established to carry on Congressman Tom Lantos proud legacy as a leading advocate for American engagement in human rights globally. We seek to advance human rights and justice by advocating for the United States and other democratic nations to prioritize these fundamental rights for all global citizens through campaigns and initiatives designed to raise awareness about key human rights challenges and by supporting and empowering those on the frontlines of human rights struggles. We focus our work in four key areas as we strive to in Toms words carry the noble banner of human rights to every corner of the world. Fighting for the free exercise of religion conscience and belief for all people.
