BeMedWise, a website and project of NeedyMeds, is dedicated to the safe use, storage and disposal of medications for better health. The National Council on Patient Information and Education (NCPIE) is a multi-disciplinary coalition of diverse organizations committed to improving health professional-patient communication about the safe, appropriate use of medicines. NCPIE programs empower consumers to participate actively in, and take responsibility for, their medication management. NCPIE advocates the patient's (and his/her caregiver's) crucial role on their medicine education team, and encourages question-asking by consumers whenever they receive a new prescription, and/or self-select a non-prescription medicine. NCPIE works with coalition members (national consumer and patient advocacy organizations, health professional associations, pharmaceutical manufacturers and other businesses, and government agencies including the FDA) to disseminate messages.
