Parents and Youth Together, Inc. Youth Development CODE OF ETHICS: Consistency, Commitment, Inspire, Respect, Trust, and Value.OUR MISSION: Provide Youth with Activities to Enhance Their Personal Development and Instill Team Building. OUR PURPOSE: Lifestyle behaviors of children and adolescents are influenced by many sectors of society. PYT, Inc. is an advocate for living a healthy lifestyle and will inform and encourage kids, young adults and their families to practice making healthy food choices and stay active in hopes they benefit and maintain living a healthy lifestyle. OUR PROGRAM: Our program consists of 8 sessions per year, held on the 1st Saturday of the month beginning the month of March thru October. The program is currently held in one community {Southwest Denver, CO}; eventually increasing the number of communities we serve. PYT, Inc. incorporates a curriculum similar to the curriculum provided by the USDA- Eat-Healthy ~ Be Active and Dairy Council of California - Exercise Your Options and Shaping Up My Choices. A snippet of the PYT, Inc. curriculum includes- physical activity, learning about food safety, the food groups, reading and understanding recipes, menu planning, budgeting, price comparison, food comparison, cooking, and field trips (i.e. grocery stores, farmers market, community gardens). PYT, Inc. also provides handouts and information related to health and disease awareness. PROGRAM OUTCOME: Upon completion of each weekly session, participants complete an evaluation explaining what they learned and enjoyed; the sixth week of the program participants complete an Eat Healthy- Be Active self-awareness survey. There is an annual banquet, prepared by the kids and each participant receives a framed Certificate of Completion and Gift Card of their choice.
