"As a young child, I remember wanting to just be able to help people when they were hurting. It's something that has been with me for a really long time, and I am thankful that I have the opportunity to fulfill my childhood dreams." As a nurse, Darcie cherishes every opportunity she gets to help a patient feel seen, heard, and cared for. More than anything, she wants patients to know they are not alone. "In addition to physical care, they might just need someone to talk to—a moment with someone who can offer a prayer and some encouragement," said Darcie. "When I help someone, I feel like I really accomplished something." Cedric, a cook on our Nutrition Services team, is passionate about helping people who are going through tough times. He values the opportunity to meet so many different people and the chance to make them smile as they go about their day. "You never know what people are going through," said Cedric. "So I try to care for them the best I can, because one day, you may need that care yourself." Having his co-workers alongside him, according to Cedric, makes his job even more rewarding.
