BANNED plays through June 7th! BANNED is an exploration of the banned book epidemic in this country and what the future may hold. Set in a dystopian future, a group of renegade “readers” meet in secret at the site of an abandoned library searching for the remnants of pages and books and joyfully share their findings. When they encounter a “burner” who works for the agency responsible for destroying all reading materials, they recount the events leading to all book bans. Creating original work One part theatre ensembleOne part cultural diplomacyOne part arts education Hand2Mouth produces local programming wherever we go. Our heart is in Portland but grows wide enough to reach people in unsung communities in the farflung corners of the world and encourage them to grow and shine together in a safe space. Our work is grounded in devised theatre All of Hand2Mouths projects use this collaborative approach in which narratives are born out of experimental group exercises and weaved together into wholly original creations. Our goal is to foster unexpectedly tightknit human bonds across diverse cultures that can leave an indelible and longlasting mark on everyone involved.
