The Society of Professional Journalists is the nation’s most broad-based journalism organization. It is the Society of Professional Journalists' mission to: * Stimulate this flow of news and information * Encourage a climate in which journalism can be practiced freely and fully * Promote high standards and ethical behavior in the practice of journalism * Foster excellence and to encourage diversity among journalists * Inspire successive generations of talented individuals to become journalists Finally, we must maintain constant vigilance to protect First Amendment guarantees of freedom of speech and of the press.
