We are a holistic workforce development organization addressing homelessness in two critical ways. First, we provide full-time employment and supportive services for individuals recovering from homelessness in Detroit. Second, we produce innovative sleeping bag coats, which are distributed to those who are unsheltered globally. Our mission is to employ and empower unhoused individuals to break the generational cycle of homelessness by producing a sleeping bag coat for those in need. We believe in giving second chances to those who want it, and providing warmth to those who need it.

EMPOWERMENT PLAN We provide employment and training for individuals experiencing homelessness to manufacture sleeping bag coats for those in need. At Empowerment Plan we work to produce our durable and innovative coat that transforms into a sleeping bag. This employment opportunity ensures that each person we hire is able to earn a stable income find secure housing and regain their independence. Behind the Seams in the community Sidewalk Samaritan Sidewalk Samaritan is a direct aid nonprofit made up of volunteers in New York City who provide food clothing and hygiene products to the unhoused.

EMPOWERMENT PLAN
We believe that true empowerment starts from within, and we’re proud to partner with @terrywhitfield313 of TEWday Strategies to offer Workplace Interpersonal Skill Development (WISD) Workshops to our Fellows. These healing-centered sessions focus on strengthening emotional intelligence, building healthy communication habits, and supporting personal growth through self-awareness and relationship-building. Last year, 14 Fellows completed the WISD program, gaining tools in: ✨ Developing personalized intervention plans ✨ Building self-control and self-management ✨ Understanding the power of healthy relationships and boundaries ✨ Strengthening active listening and communication skills For us, employment is just the beginning.
