The Lucky Strike puffing, whiskey slugging Don Draper made his final appearance in “Mad Men” 10 years ago today. The Emmy Award-winning series, which ran from 2007 to 2015, followed the professional and personal lives of New York City advertising professionals in the 1960s. The show’s dialogue, costume, and design sucked viewers into the characters’ fast-paced advertising world, set in a pivotal historical era of political and social change in the United States. Just before the series finale premiered, creator Matthew Weiner and the cast, including star Jon Hamm, donated more than 50 objects from "Mad Men” to our National Museum of American History. A few highlights include Don’s charcoal gray suit, Cordova fedora, and, of course, his package of Lucky Strike cigarettes. (fb)
