When it was deemed historical it was noted that the building was in poor condition with the potential to continue to deteriorate without continued maintenance. On March 2 2016 a public nuisance lawsuit against the City of Miami was filed in MiamiDade Circuit Court for the City of Miami39s failure to maintain the Dorsey Memorial Library.
