Sharing the sad news of the passing of Dean Newsom, ‘64, and longtime supporter of the AOSFYC. Please see the message from AOSFYC Alum Board Member, Brian Ault. Dear AOSFYC Community, Dean Newsom, a 1964 alumni of the choir and a kind-hearted and generous member of our Alumni Association, passed away on March 4th, 2025. Over the past 60 years, he dedicated countless hours and resources to keeping the Alumni Association and the Choir in tip-top shape for all of us who followed in his footsteps, and for those yet to come and sing at the Fair. His family has requested that a group of singers raise our voices to honor Dean at his funeral on March 19th, 2025. The funeral service will start at 11am on the 19th. We will be starting rehearsal at 9am the morning of the 19th. There will also be two (2) visitation time slots with his family: the first will be Tuesday the 18th from 5pm until 8pm; the second will be Wednesday the 19th from 10am until 11am when the funeral service starts. All visitation times and the funeral service will be held at the Bacher-Moore Funeral Home in Norton, Ohio (3250 Greenwich Rd.). Interment will be at 1:15pm at the Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio (10175 Rawiga Road). A celebration of life will be held after the funeral at the Eagles Club in Wadsworth, Ohio (9953 Rittman Road). Please note that we'll keep track of everyone's names, voice parts, and contact information through this form; this will help us plan enough space for rehearsal, and help to make sure we are a well balanced and well-rounded group for Dean and his family.
