We provide a social media presence for Tuscaroras who descend from those who migrated from Indian Woods/Bertie & Edgecombe Counties to present day Robeson. The primary exempt purpose of the Tuscarora Nation of North Carolina, Inc is to bring awareness to the historical trauma and disparities negatively impacting the lives of the Tuscarora communities. In this mission, the TNNC strives to provide crucial economic, social, cultural, educational, and health related support to the Tuscarora communities in Robeson and adjoining counties. The TNNC has goals to advance the lives of the Tuscarora Nation families that remained in NC following Indian Removal in the 1830s. While popular opinion accepts the misrepresentation that the Tuscarora either went extinct or totally removed from our southern homelands, historical and modern evidence reveals that the Tuscarora continued to resist encroachment by settlers in efforts to remain free.

It has always been our way to live in autonomous villages dispersed over oftentimes great distances. Our three communities of Maxton Longhouse Prospect Longhouse and Saddletree are spread across Robeson County NC. We include the colonial state of NC in our name to distinguish us from our relatives in New York and Six Nations Ontario but know that we are older than North Carolina.
