Wellborn Muscle Car Museum

The Wellborn Muscle Car Museum is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the culture of American muscle cars, particularly those from the 1960s and 1970s. Established in 2010 by Tim and Pam Wellborn, it has become a renowned destination for muscle car enthusiasts.

History

The museum is housed in a fully restored 1940s Chevrolet dealership building, which was saved from demolition by Tim Wellborn. Initially intended as a storage space for his collection, it evolved into a public museum showcasing a diverse array of American muscle cars.

Collection

The museum's collection includes over 80 vehicles, with more than 40 displayed at any given time. It features one of the largest and most comprehensive collections of high-performance Dodge cars in the United States, including rare models like the Charger, Road Runner, and SuperBee. Additionally, it exhibits other notable muscle cars such as the Mercury Cougar Eliminator, Ford Boss Mustang, and Chevrolet Chevelle SS.

Exhibitions and Events

The museum creates an immersive experience with its vintage décor, including black and white checkered floors and neon lights, replicating the ambiance of a car dealership from the 1970s. The vehicles are meticulously maintained and occasionally taken for short drives to maintain their operational condition. The museum hosts various events, such as the Mopar Reunion, which celebrates significant anniversaries of iconic muscle cars.
