❤️ADOPTED💙 May 10, 2025 – Minerva’s rescue & adoption took a village, and we thank each person who played a significant role in helping Minerva land in forever home with Angela! Rescued in Feb 2025 as an owner surrender in Korea, Minerva flew w/the Chows, flight volunteers, from Korea to SFO. Pressured to quickly find a foster family, our friends at @bayareapugproject stepped up, picking her from the Chows at SFO and fostering her for a month! At the time, they had just received their 501(c)(3) nonprofit designation and were gearing up for full-time rescue work. We are incredibly grateful that they made time, despite their limited resources, to care for Minerva. Since then, they have placed 29 pugs into their forever homes! After that, Minerva flew with flight volunteer @_vanessa93_to Vegas, where @themindfuldogmom fostered her for another month before Minerva’s new mom picked her up! Minerva is now living her best pug life in Maryland! From her mom: “She’s such a good girl and she’s the best cuddler and loves giving smooches 💋! She had a vet checkup today, and everyone said how cute and well-behaved she was! So happy to have her!” As you may know, foster families have been limited, but rescue pugs have been plentiful. We work together to care for pugs! Minerva is an excellent example of how animal rescue often necessitates collaboration & outreach beyond immediate geographical boundaries. Pug rescue is not confined by county or state lines. The ultimate measure of a rescue’s success is the number of animals placed into safe, permanent homes. If we aren’t actively placing many pugs, it creates a bottleneck in the rescue system. When other groups step in to facilitate foster & adoptions, they directly contribute to the welfare of pugs and alleviate the burden on the broader rescue community. 💙ADOPTED! ❤️When we rescued Stitch in Sep 2023, he was in a sad state, having been neglected for years and cycling from home to home. He was suffering from a skin disease called Malassezia, caused by yeast dermatitis. His furless legs exposed his calloused, black skin …so bad it looks like he’s wearing dark pants. And his tail was but a whisp. He was also afflicted with giardia and gastroenteritis and grade 4 luxating patellas in both hind legs (the most severe). It hurt knowing he’d been neglected for so long 😣. But that life is long gone and hopefully forgotten! He’s joined the Correia family, completing their grumble. We fostered Stitch for 19 months in Korea – it took that long for him to heal and recover. When he was finally ready, he hopped on a plan with the Theis family, traveling in-cabin with them to Minneapolis. Our friends @pugrescueofnewengland met Stitch at MSP to take him back to New England to eventually find his forever family. It was a long—time and distance wise—journey for Stitch but worthwhile as he’s now loved, adored, and pampered with the Correias. When we updated our rescuer, Kim, about Stitch, she got very emotional bc she cared for him for so long. From his mom: “He’s doing great so far. He started sleeping in bed with us after only a couple nights. Each night he’s had a more restful & hard sleep. On his 4th morning, he wanted to “sleep in.” He seems very happy & is really enjoying yak cheese chews. He’s just the sweetest boy.” From Pug Rescue of New England: “Stich went to live with his new family. He has a loving and experienced family of pug lovers who have had pugs for over 20 years. He joins Yasha and Stella to complete a grumble of 3, which has always been their magic number. So far, he’s had his first bath, hung out in sun puddles, snuggled with his new brother, completed his first treat puzzle, and this is only the beginning of his best of the rest!
