Historic Aircraft Restoration Museum

The Historic Aircraft Restoration Museum is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the restoration and preservation of historical aircraft. Located at Creve Coeur Airport in Maryland Heights, Missouri, the museum showcases an extensive collection of primarily fabric-covered biplanes from the "Golden Age of Flight," roughly spanning from 1916 to 1946.

Mission

The museum's primary goal is the acquisition, restoration, display, and operation of antique and vintage aircraft, focusing on aircraft with regional or historical significance. It operates as a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational institution.

Collection

The museum's collection includes a diverse range of historical aircraft, with notable examples being the Standard J-1, built in 1917, which was featured in films such as The Rocketeer. The collection also features several Waco biplanes, including the WACO 10 from 1928. Many of these aircraft are maintained in airworthy condition by the museum's volunteers.

Programs and Activities

Visitors can participate in guided tours on weekends by appointment and experience historic flight firsthand through aircraft rides available in select planes, such as the de Havilland DH82 Tiger Moth or the North American SNJ-5.

Location and Accessibility

Situated at Creve Coeur Airport, the museum offers a unique backdrop of active aviation activities. Its accessible location and engaging exhibits make it an educational and entertaining destination for aviation enthusiasts.

Operational Schedule

The museum remains closed during the winter months but opens for the public on weekends during the rest of the year. Admission includes free entry for children under 5, $5 for children aged 5 to 12, and $10 for adults.
