Today, HPD proudly showed up in full support for the 2025 Special Olympics Torch Run kick-off — honoring courage, unity, and the incredible athletes who inspire us all! 💙 @specialolympicsva (fb)

🕊️ 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐂𝐮𝐲𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐞 🕊️ Today, we pause to remember Patrolman Mark Curtis DeCuypere, who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the City of Hampton. On this day in 1975, Patrolman DeCuypere responded to a domestic violence call on Leeland Avenue. Without hesitation, he acted to protect others and uphold his duty. Tragically, he was ambushed and fatally wounded in the line of duty. Though he served with the Hampton Police Division for only 21 months, his bravery, dedication, and selflessness left a lasting impact. He is remembered not only as a police officer, but as a husband, son, and brother. We honor his life, his service, and the legacy he leaves behind. Gone but never forgotten.
