Last week we held our Spring Sports awards that celebrated 222 student athletes who played or managed a sport, which is more than 88% of the student body, and 5% more than last year. Student athletes played on 9 teams led by 23 coaches. For Independent sports, 17 students participated in ice hockey, gymnastics, dance, martial arts and equestrian. Finally, and most notably, of those 222 spring student athletes, 53 of them are seniors who competed in their final season at Gunston. HIGHLIGHTS 🏆 Our doubles team of Eleonor Hubbert ’26 and Kate Andrews ’26 are back-to-back ESIAC Doubles Champions, setting a school record as the first team to do that in school history. 🏆 Our #1 singles player, Elena Fraser ’25, won the singles championship making her the first ever Gunston girls’ tennis player to win ESIAC Player of the year! 🏆 ESIAC All-Conference Girls Tennis Team: Eleonor Hubbert ’26, Kate Andrews ’26, Elena Fraser ’25 with an Honorable Mention for Zoey Loveless '27 🏆 MIAA All-Conference Boys Lax Team: Bennett Wirts '25, Evan Zottarelli '25 and Riley Walker '25 🏆 ESIAC All-Conference Girls LaxTeam: Layla Kent ’26, Grace Shepherd ’25, Elena Szwaja ’27 with an Honorable Mention for Brynn Roberts '27 🏆 MIAA All-Conference Boys Golf Team: RP Johnson '25 and Alex Elfenbein '25 🏆 Inaugural Season for the Varsity Pickleball Team (who is undefeated!) 🏆 Men’s Crew Varsity Four: Trevor Janssen ’25, Eamon Schopfer ’26, Jed Cohen ’26, Aiden Filer ’26 and Emery Day ’26. 🏆Men’s Crew Second Varsity Four: Dylan Chiochetti ’27, Austin Koterwas ’27, Oliver Morris ’27, Matt Walton ’27 and Marley Farmer ’27. 🏆 Tier 1 Sailing Team is ranked 7th in Maryland, and the Tier 2 Sailing Team ranked 5th in Maryland Read more at the link in our bio: bit.ly/GunstonSpringSports25 #gunstonschool #gunstonherons #gunstonathletics #gunstonsportsawards (fb)
