Since its creation in 1970 the GNR met its operating funds from annual subscriptions by tax-exempt educational institutions such as University libraries, the require educational articles and book reviews on Germanic literture, history, language, culture, music, etc., in assisting the teaching and research goals of their faculty in these fields. All contributors, editors/associate editors perform their services gratuitously.
