Walking alongside our brothers and sisters experiencing chroni A Christian response to homelessness.OFT walks alongside our neighbors experiencing chronic homelessness, connecting them to agencies with the goal of ending their cycle of homelessness, ensuring their journey back to RESTORATION.OFT is the light at the end of the tunnel!  Our Father's Table, OFT,  has a solution that breaks the cycle of chronic homelessness, 1 person at a time. Our work is important because it addresses homelessness at its cause knowing chronic homelessness is a symptom of a deeper-rooted problem.  OFT changes lives, by giving a hand up, not a hand out! Our work is cost effective & it does not create another program.  Our unique approach puts us in the center of their life as mentor, advocate & most importantly genuine friend giving unconditional friendship & guidance.   The crisis of homelessness in OC has been front & center as the media exposed the day-to-day tragedies unfolding in the homeless community.  How can we forget the horrible story that was reported in March of 2018 when a family of 4 died in their mini-van that was also their home.  Then there is the heartbreak of our veterans, who make up 10% of our homeless population. These scenarios could have been avoided if we had more trained Care Navigators so we could expand our canvas area outside of the southern beach cities of OC.  The numbers speak for themselves... In a 12-month period (2014-2015) in OC:$299 million: Governmental & non-governmental entities spent on addressing homelessness. ($106 million spent on all types of housing for the homeless. $193 million spent on healthcare, criminal justice system, governmental & non-governmental agencies.)$100,759: Average annual cost for 1 chronically homeless living on the street or in emergency shelters (OC United Way Cost Study on Homelessness, 2016)But there is a successful & Christian solution! $12,385 is the cost for OFT to lift 1 chronically homeless person off the streets; a savings of $88,374 per person. OFT averages 30 lifted each  year, a savings of $2,651,220 per year.
