Saint Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum, Inc.
To Discover, Preserve, Present and Keep Alive the Stories of Nation's oldest port as symbolized by our working St. Augustine Lighthouse. We preserve the patrimony of the State of Florida by safeguarding six historic structures on the National Register of Historic Places. We serve school-age children, including mainstream and at-risk students, with camp programs during school breaks. We reduce food stress, provide daycare and counteract the gap in student learning and the decline in knowledge retention over school breaks. Museum archaeologists and field school students study submerged cultural resources in the waters of the Nation's oldest, continually-occupied European seaport, including shipwrecks dating from 1565 to the present day. A British loyalist wreck from 1782 is on display.
