Laura Baker, an interior architect turned cookbook author and illustrator, recently visited and shared her work with residents at Bishop Spencer Place. Laura creates pie-inspired art alongside her book series, "Pie as Art." She spent 11 years perfecting and illustrating more than 75 pie recipes. As soon as the reception started, residents began reminiscing about pies, remembering grandparents and parents making pies for them and their favorite kinds. Laura even brought homemade mini cherry pies to share that she made earlier that morning. Thank you, Laura, for sharing your passion and pies with us! 🥧 (fb)

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas recently visited the residents at Bishop Spencer Place! Before his presentation, a resident who was his 9th-grade teacher introduced him. He thanked her for so much and reflected on words of wisdom he received from his guidance counselor, who is also a resident.
