Since 2022, Smith College's EcoReps have hosted Lights Out, a powerful annual tradition inspired by Earth Hour. The event encourages our community to slow down, switch off the lights, and take a moment to connect with each other and with the night sky. Timed near Earth Day and Dean Julie Ohotnickey's Lighting Walk, Lights Out invites us to reflect on how light affects our surroundings, our health, and our ability to witness the stars above. This year's event was thoughtfully led by CEEDS interns and EcoReps student coordinators Gabriela McGrath-Moreira and Sasha Kracauer, with guidance from Professor James Lowenthal and strong support from the Smith community. A heartfelt thank you to Campus Safety, Smith electricians, the Office of Student Engagement, and everyone who helped bring this beautiful tradition to life. (fb)
