Physician Moms Group
The Physician Moms Group (PMG) is a US-based nonprofit organization founded in 2014 by Dr. Hala Sabry. Initially starting with twenty members, all physicians and mothers, the group has expanded to become the largest online support network for women physician mothers, with over 120,000 members across 100 countries.
History
PMG was established to address the unique challenges faced by physician mothers, providing a platform for them to share experiences, advice, and support. Over time, the organization evolved beyond its initial role as a social support group, becoming a vocal advocate for women's equity in healthcare and related issues.
Mission and Values
PMG is guided by three core values:
- Education: The organization hosts discussions on topics affecting its members, emphasizing evidence-based medicine, and supports research through its research committee.
- Diversity: PMG advocates for marginalized groups, aiming to foster a more equitable future by amplifying diverse voices and addressing discrimination.
- Collaboration and Partnerships: PMG partners with organizations that share similar goals, supporting women and physicians globally.
Activities and Impact
PMG engages in various activities, including educational campaigns, seminars, and conferences. The group has been instrumental in providing support during critical events, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. It also focuses on issues like physician burnout, contract negotiation, and financial management for women in medicine.
