"The KSFF Mission Statement: "Preserve, Promote, Enhance and Educate" Protect, Promote; Enhance and Educate The Kanawha State Forest Foundation is a volunteer non-profit organization created over 30 years ago with a mission to protect, promote, and preserve Kanawha State Forest. The KSFF currently has about 150 members of diverse interests and backgrounds committed to this common cause. The Foundation strives to advance the goals of its constituents as well as the Forest administration and Department of Natural Resources. This effort is always in the context of remaining true to the vision of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) which originally built the historic structures of Kanawha State Forest. The Foundation also serves as a conduit for public donations or funds directed toward further improving or developing the Forest.

Time for some spring cleaning. If you need some community service hours or just want to help because you love Kanawha State Forest, Superintendent Clark Sanford has plenty of projects you can tackle. Today, volunteers helped with the monthly KSF Gun Range clean-up, pressure washed signs near the HQ, and trimmed up some landscaping bushes.

Herbalist Emily Cloer hosted an informative workshop on native plants to use for teas, salads and poultices. She demonstrated how to make a red clover poultice to help soothe skin irritations, then took the group for a hike through the KSF Arboretum and around the Spotted Salamander Trail.
