| Strong Partnerships are the Key to Unlocking Good Vision in Zambia and Beyond | Last week, the Ministry of Health and the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation welcomed Dr. Clement Peter Lasuba, World Health Organization (WHO) Country Representative to Zambia, for a visit to the Liteta District Hospital Vision Centre and the National Optical Laboratory. These government-run facilities, led by the Ministry of Health and established with support from the Foundation, are at the forefront of vision care delivery in Zambia. The Liteta District Hospital Vision Centre provides both medical and refractive care to a catchment population of over 420,000 people. At the same time, the National Optical Laboratory produces prescription glasses for more than 60 Vision Centres across Zambia, strengthening access through local manufacturing and distribution. During the visit, Dr. Lasuba reaffirmed the importance of strong partnerships, sustained advocacy and greater public awareness to accelerate access to eye care. He underscored the need to broaden eye health programming to address underlying causes and called on all stakeholders to treat eye health as a basic human right. Through the WHO SPECS 2030 initiative, the Foundation will continue supporting the Ministry of Health in Zambia and beyond, working to ensure that good vision is not a privilege, but a standard part of public health, accessible to all. #TheRightToSee #SPECS2030 #Zambia #VisionForAll (fb)

| Every Child Deserves The Right To See and the Chance to Thrive | Earlier this year, the Global Symposium on Child Eye Health: A Call to Action brought together over 1,700 stakeholders from across the world - including NGOs, governments, academic institutions, civil society and the eye care industry. Co-hosted by the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation, Berkeley Vision, India Vision Institute and UNICEF, and supported by CooperVision, the symposium was held under Berkeley's and the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation's 'One School at a Time' program and concluded with the release of the Child Eye Health Statement 2025. Rooted in the recognition that vision is a fundamental right, the Statement affirms a shared global ambition: “To ensure that every child, regardless of location or background, has access to quality eye care and can see, learn and thrive.” Aligned with the World Health Organization’s SPECS 2030 initiative, the Statement calls for coordinated action across sectors to integrate child eye health into education and health systems, expand access to care and eliminate avoidable vision impairment in children. The message is clear. Child eye health must become a global priority, and we look forward to working with partners around the world to turn the Child Eye Health Statement 2025 into real change for every child. #ChildEyeHealth #TheRightToSee #SPECS2030 (fb)
