A Hawaii Think Tank with a Pacific Focus The mission of the Islands Society is to inspire and empower islanders to participate in foreign affairs and overseas engagements in order to bring about positive changes in their local communities. We do so by: Developing and implementing programs that provide women, minorities, and the next generation of leaders from island communities with the knowledge, networks, platforms, and exposure to realize their full potential; Developing and distributing innovative foreign affairs, public diplomacy, cultural relations, and climate change policies that build on the expertise and experience of our staff and advisors while respecting the vision and values of our organization; Developing and implementing programs that strengthen the impact and credibility of individuals and sub-national organizations from island communities in foreign affairs, cultural relations, and climate change debates; Developing and implementing programs that encourage individuals and sub-national organizations from island communities to develop creative solutions for reducing greenhouse gases and mitigating climate change; Developing and implementing programs that enable individuals and sub-national organizations from island communities to more fully participate in debates on foreign affairs, cultural relations, and climate change; Developing and implementing programs that promote ethical leadership in island communities across all levels of society.
