Stop the Suffering
Thousands of dogs and cats are euthanized every year because they have nowhere to go. Animals are brought daily to shelters for many reasons; some are strays, some owner surrenders. Most of the animals at the shelters are sweet companion animals, just looking for a family to love them. Due to the major pet overpopulation problem that currently exists in Ohio and surrounding states, a large percentage of “unwanted” animals are at risk of being euthanized due to lack of resources and space. We want to stop this pattern. Stop the Suffering helps pull dogs and cats from kill shelters in our region and gets them to safety. We are able to place some dogs through our adoption programs; however, most of the dogs and cats are placed into other "sister" rescues through our Transport Program.

Stop The Suffering Animal Rescue Stop the Suffering STS is a Columbus Ohio based nonprofit that rescues dogs and cats from high kill shelters primarily in Ohio and to transport them to safety. We operate a dog adoption program and match dogs to their forever home. We also raise funds for veterinary care transportation and food for rescued animals. Stop the Suffering provides resources to promote responsible pet ownership.

At approximately 10 years young, Bear has a heart full of love and loyalty to give. After losing his owner, he found himself without the care he needed—but now he’s ready to start fresh with a family who will cherish him. This sweet, house-trained gentleman gets along great with other dogs and is still in relatively good health at around 45 pounds.
