The Longhorn Project - An Educational Program

Nonprofit organization located 53 acres on the premises of NASA's Johnson Space Center, providing agricultural and STEM education to 3rd - 12th grade students The Longhorn Project, located at the NASA JSC, is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that provides hands-on learning experiences to inspire the next generation of leaders in agriculture and STEM. Since 2004 over 90,000 students have participated in the educational program, the Center for Agriculture, Science, and Engineering (CASE). The mission is to provide students with unique educational experiences that combines an agricultural and STEM curriculum with leadership and personal growth opportunities and to promote the legacy and preservation of the Texas Longhorn, the cattle native to the state of Texas.

FIELD TRIPS MEET THE BREEDERS SHOW TEAM Supported by the Commissioner Ken Clark Working For You Foundation The Longhorn Projects History The Longhorn Project at Johnson Space Center official known as the Center for Agriculture Science and Engineering CASE is a groundbreaking educational program that was created in 1996 as a collaborative effort between The Longhorn Project LHP the NASA Johnson Space Center JSC the Clear Creek Independent School District CCISD with the Houston Livestock and RodeoTM HLSR and the Texas Longhorn Breeders Association of America TLBAA rendering their support. JSC Director George W. S. Abbey had been searching for ways to make resources of the JSC center available to the educational community in order to fulfill NASAs goal of taking a more proactive role in community affairs.
