Swing for Kids inspires and empowers students through Swing Dance. Swing for Kids inspires and empowers students through swing dance. We serve Chicago's youth in grades 3-12 through dance residencies and in-school programs. Students learn essential social and emotional skills like goal setting, self-management, conflict resolution, collaboration, and communication skills. Kids are engaged in learning a cool new dance skill that has it's roots in American history, but also learn to work together better, respect each other, perform and improvise, and have a lot of fun!Children who participate Social & Emotional Learning programs like Swing for Kids learn to cooperate with their classmates and are less likely to exhibit behavior problems, distract from teaching and learning, or be removed from their classroom. Young participants also gain valuable skills in body awareness, social appropriateness, goal setting, collaboration, and leadership while learning about the history and social fabric that gave birth to the Great American tradition of Jazz music and Swing dance. Our reach is growing every day as we spread our mission throughout the greater Chicagoland area. We were able to inspire and empower over 150 kids this year and have already begun partnerships to more than triple that by the 2016-2017 school year.
