The library is closed today for a Staff Development Day! Throughout the day library staff will be participating in a variety of learning activities to help us improve our service to the community! We will reopen tomorrow at 10 a.m. Our first activity of the day was microfilm training! The assignment: locate the front page of the Superior Telegram from the day you were born! SPL branch librarian Christina was born on New Year's Day AND she was the first baby born in the Twin Ports that year, so she made the front page of the paper! The weather could NOT have been better for this morning's StoryWalk® ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Billings Park boat launch! The new StoryWalk® honors the memory of two longtime Friends of the Library, Katherine T. Schulz and Sue Christensen, and features a children's picture book displayed page by page along the waterfront trail. Mayor Jim Paine and Councilor Nick Ledin joined us for the celebration, along with members of the Friends of Superior Public Library, the Superior Parks Department, Superior Public Library board of trustees, Superior Chamber of Commerce, library staff, and community members. The first featured StoryWalk®selection is One-Dog Canoe by Mary Casanova with illustrations by Ard Hoyt. The selection will change every month so there will always be a new story to enjoy as you follow the trail while spending time in beautiful Billings Park! Special thanks to the Friends of the Library and Superior's Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department for their support of this new addition to the Billings Park waterfront trail! (fb)
