Organized for educational, scientific, and charitable purposes, OPEN SYSTEMS is a design-based, research organization dedicated to the opening of knowledge of complex ecological challenges and raising awareness of geopolitical and geospatial conflicts at the intersection of environmental justice, spatial inequality, climate change, and community self-determination. OPEN SYSTEMS’ primary activities include counter-cartography & mapping, public exhibitions, multimedia publications, technologies for open learning, actionable demonstrations & prototypes, community building & organizational initiatives through data access & open sources.
