At Lemur Love, we believe in the power of knowledge to create change. That is why one of our missions is to support 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Because when we invest in learning, we invest in the future. This time, our educational program will take place in public schools in the communities of Efoetse and Marofijery, two villages on the edge of Tsimanampesotse National Park, where Lemur Love has been actively engaged. "Part of our program emphasizes our fellows as whole people. Many of our fellows are mothers, navigating caring for children and pursuing careers in science. Malagasy society places immense pressure on young women. This is changing, but generally women are told their whole lives that they cannot achieve what men can and that they shouldn’t bother trying. We are fighting this deep cultural narrative every time one of our fellows gets funding for their project, forms a new collaboration, or publishes their own research.
