Overview

The Greater NY Foundation, also known as Greater NY, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering partnerships between nonprofit and private sector leaders to enhance civic engagement and problem-solving in New York City.

History

Greater NY was launched in response to the 2008 financial crisis as an initiative of the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City during the Bloomberg Administration. Initially conceived as a two-year program, it has evolved into an independent nonprofit organization since 2015. The foundation was co-founded by Cheryl Cohen Effron and Jamie Rubin.

Mission and Activities

The organization's primary mission is to bridge the gap between the corporate community and nonprofits by facilitating executive partnerships. These partnerships involve monthly confidential discussions between matched leaders from both sectors over a two-year period. Greater NY Analyst Corps
