Two years after the Sackett v EPA decision, we’re seeing more streams and wetlands lost to development, fewer safeguards for clean water, and more power in the hands of polluters. Your safe drinking water and local economies are at stake. In 2024, we passed the Clean Water Justice Act in Maryland to give you power under state law. Now, as the Supreme Court continues to erode environmental protections and this federal administration guts our long-standing protections, it's urgent that we all fight this and work to strengthen protections at home. Connect with your local Waterkeeper to take action. ✅ Check out the Clean Water Justice Act https://waterkeeperschesapeake.org/clean-water-justice-act/ ✅ Find your Waterkeeper https://waterkeeperschesapeake.org/our-waterkeeper-members/ #ProtectOurWaters #ProtectCleanWater #CleanWaterMatters #AllWatersIsConnected #CleanWaterAct #CleanWaterJusticeAct #Waterkeepers #Riverkeepers (fb)

In 2021, Waterkeepers Chesapeake with our Waterkeepers passed a little noticed bill that has led to the reduction of millions of pounds of pollution in Maryland's waterways. How? It fixed the law so that Waterkeepers -- and anyone else harmed by pollution -- can intervene in an enforcement action filed by the state. This allowed them to be at the table to negotiate settlements that stopped the pollution, fixed the problems, and gave funds to the impacted communities. Our work to advance state clean water laws and regulatory protections is more important than ever as our federal protections are being gutted. Read more about the pollution reductions that resulted from just one bill. https://waterkeeperschesapeake.org/how-one-bill-reduced-millions-of-pounds-of-pollution-in-maryland/ #cleanwateract #Maryland #pollutionreductions #waterpollution #legislation #waterkeepers #riverkeepers Blue Water Baltimore Potomac Riverkeeper Network Choptank Riverkeeper (fb)
