GONE-TO-THE-DOGS RESCUE INC

Overview

GONE-TO-THE-DOGS RESCUE INC is a U.S. nonprofit organization focused on animal protection and welfare. The organization was founded by Marcella Janes RN MSN CCM in 2011 in Hermosa Beach, California, with the mission to rescue and rehabilitate homeless dogs, particularly those that are sick, injured, senior, or otherwise vulnerable[1][3].

Mission and Activities

The organization's primary mission is to provide high-quality care and rehabilitation to rescued dogs, including comprehensive veterinary care, nutrition, and professional behavior training. They operate through a network of foster homes that offer love, care, and commitment, with the ultimate goal of placing these animals in permanent, loving families[1][3].

Financial Operations

As of 2023, the organization reported significant contributions-based revenue, with $87,900 in income and $74,400 in expenses. Donations to the organization are tax-deductible, reflecting its status as a charitable entity[2]. Despite operating primarily on contributions, the organization has faced financial challenges, like many animal rescue groups, where adoption fees often do not cover full operational costs[4].

Education and Advocacy

Beyond rescue efforts, GONE-TO-THE-DOGS RESCUE INC also engages in public education by advocating for spay/neutering of pets and promoting responsible pet parenting and health education[5].

Transparency and Recognition

The organization holds a Gold Participant rating from GuideStar for transparency and effectiveness, indicating a commitment to transparency in governance, finances, and impact[3][5].
