Join us Friday, June 6, at 7:30 a.m. at the Watershed Center for our Monthly Meeting. Eric and Joanna Reuter present Weird Watersheds and Other Topographic Curiosities of the Ozarks. Eric and Joanna will draw upon shaded-relief lidar maps to consider the morphology of regional watersheds, exploring features of a “normal”-looking watershed and showing how real-world watersheds deviate from these expectations (especially in the Ozarks). They will also consider how changes in watershed boundaries over geologic time have even affected vegetation patterns. Eric and Joanna Reuter run Ozark Outsider, a freelance education/consulting business that draws upon their professional backgrounds as Earth scientists, writers, technical editors, and land managers. Following the presentation, Trevor Grout, Service Hydrologist, National Weather Service, will give a quarterly update, and meeting attendees are encouraged to share brief updates. Coffee and pastries provided! (fb)
