FIBArk Community Paddling Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting community members to discover white water paddle sports through yearly events and programs, providing local youth with the opportunity to safely engage in whitewater paddle sports and learn river safety and etiquette and offering a space where community members can learn about whitewater paddle sports, the history of the Arkansas River and the history of the FIBArk organization.

HOME | Fibark Community Paddling Center | Salida Colorado The acronym FIBArk stands for First in Boating in the Arkansas River originally devised by a group of community members in the 193039s many of them real estate agents to draw attention to Salida and give an opportunity for local boaters to demonstrate their paddling skills. Flash forward to today . FIBArk is America39s longest standing whitewater festival and in recent years the FIBArk festival has drawn as many as 30000 people to our small town of Salida Colorado. Through partnerships with generous local businesses passionate individuals and the City of Salida FIBArk funds classes and equipment for both river safety and skill building.

Here it is: 🌊 Theme: Eddy Wild 🐍 Tagline: Feel the Flow 🌑 Emojis: 🐍🍓🌑🌊 This year’s theme captures what FIBArk has always been — wild water, small-town soul, and a celebration powered by community. Like the eddies of the Arkansas River, it’s where momentum meets pause, where history meets possibility.

The FIBArk Downriver Races are what started it all. Competitors negotiate Class III-IV rapids that would be challenging to a well-rested boater. Add the fatigue of paddling at race pace for 26 miles and one can start to understand the difficulty of this event.
