Last year, Haven volunteers donated more than 6,800 hours of service! Using Virginia’s volunteer wage, this amounts to $221,612 of labor. Remarkable. 6,800+ hours spent… - chopping vegetables & slinging eggs 🍳 for morning breakfast - driving folks to and from the DMV for IDs - operating our weekly on-site health clinics ❤️‍🩹 - sorting critical donations like food, underwear, & hygiene products - directing calls & patiently attending to the needs of our guests Volunteers are the special sauce (see last photo), the backbone of The Haven since its inception, beginning with a collective of concerned volunteers invested in supporting unhoused neighbors 🫱🏽‍🫲🏾. If you see a Haven volunteer around, give them a big high five to celebrate National Volunteer Week. They deserve it.
