The Houston Tuskegee Alumni Club hosted Dr. Mark A. Brown and First Lady Gwen Brown along with staff this weekend during a scholarship reception and luncheon at Chateau Crystale. Sponsors of the event included Amazon and grocery chain HEB. Congressman Al Green (D-TX) was a flag supporter and presented Dr. Brown with a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol along with a written declaration. The 175 attendees helped to raise more than $20,000 for student scholarships. “Gwen and I along with the Development and Alumni Engagement team of Dr. A.L. Fleming and Krystal Pyles, truly enjoyed H-Town with our Houston-Tuskegee Alumni Club,” said Dr. Brown. “We celebrated Houston greats who served at or graduated from Tuskegee like Congressman Al Green and the late great Congresswoman Barbara Jordan.
