In case you haven’t already, now is a great time to check out the May edition of our NVM Newsletter. On top of a rundown of some of the famous gaming classics you can take a crack at first hand, this month’s newsletter is filled with looks at a few weird and wild gaming peripherals. For example: Who needs a Peloton when you have the Cyberbike 2 for your Playstation 3! This exercise bike, pictured below, was released exclusively for PS3 in Europe in 2011. You can see the familiar Playstation control sticks and buttons between the handlebars used to navigate the accompanying software. The bike was pitched to consumers as a way to make using your exercise bike a less solitary experience, with an online mode where you and up to 3 friends could bike together. The game also featured a story mode as well as a more traditional fitness mode that could output the usual physical data you would want from your workout. While the Cyberbike 2 game was exclusive to Europe, it was coming off the heels of the worldwide success of the original Cyberbike game and peripheral for the Nintendo Wii, which capitalized on the success of the wave of “active” video games to come in the wake of Wii Sports. Speaking of Active, make sure you don’t miss our annual NVM Scavenger Hunt on May 24th. You’ll be able to head to Frisco Commons Park to search for our 6 hidden NVM treasure chests. The chests contain tickets to the NVM, special souvenir pins, and arcade tokens! But don’t worry, you won’t need any climbing, mining, or monster slaying experience to find them!
