THE RICHARD SCHOENSTADT MEMORIAL FOUNDATION, INC. WAS FORMED TO HONOR THE MEMORY AND SPIRIT OF RICHARD SCHOENSTADT, A PROMINENT CHICAGO ATTORNEY WHO PASSED AWAY IN 2012. THE FOUNDATION RAISES FUNDS FROM A VARIETY OF SOURCES, INCLUDING INDIVIDUALS, BUSINESSES, AND PRIVATE FOUNDATIONS. THE FOUNDATION SOLICITS CONTRIBUTIONS DIRECTLY AND ALSO CONDUCTS FUND RAISING EVENTS. THE FOUNDATION USES THOSE FUNDS TO MAKE GRANTS TO PUBLIC CHARITIES DESCRIBED IN SECTIONS 501(C)(3) AND 509(A)(1) OR (A)(2) OF THE INTERNAL REVENUE CODE. ALL SUCH GRANTS SERVE EXCLUSIVELY CHARITABLE PURPOSES. GRANT RECIPIENTS ARE SELECTED BASED ON SIZE AND PURPOSE OF THE GRANTS, THE IMPACT OF THE PROGRAMS OR ACTIVITIES THEY SUPPORT, THE COMMUNITIES SERVED, AND PUBLIC BENEFITS DERIVED.
