Tonight's Aurora is forecasted to be KP7, which is when we start to recommend chances to see it tonight; however, we have severe wildfire smoke also hitting our area which will significantly dampen your brightness and chance to see detail. So as always, travel to a dark site that is safe and open, such as our beautiful state parks, and be respectful to turn off white lights as soon as you can for other viewers / set up and get situated before sunset if you can. But be prepared that after sunset you may not have as crisp and beautiful of a view as past auroras. If you do go out tonight, look at the 30 minute space weather forcast prior: https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/products/aurora-30-minute-forecast and get your best information directly from NOAA NWS Space Weather Prediction Center via https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/communities/aurora-dashboard-experimental (fb)
