I was raised in Peoria, Illinois after reading an article in the Huffington Post that stated that Peoria is one of the worst Cities for Black Americans to live, I decided to help fight Recidivisim. The incarceration rate is very high. Whereas individuals should feel a sense of relief to be released, they are acclimated to prison life and fear the unknown of society. It is a sad state of affairs when our people feel prison is their comfort zone. My aim is to help to close that revolving door. Asking myself how I can be of service, the idea that fell on my spirit for my Non-profit Organization (Kasonya Cares, Inc.) to assist individuals upon re-entry into society. How awesome would it be for them to know that someone really cares about their well being.
