We make grants to rural and inner-city schools so students can learn about nature, conservation, and the STEM subjects. We focus on youths with social emotional learning disorders, connecting them with nature in a uniquely empowering manner. Covid lockdowns had a negative impact on their mental and physical health, leading to anxiety, depression, obesity, and dependence on behavior-modifying medications. This Nature Deficit Disorder is particularly evident in children from low-income families. Reconnecting them with nature is a major step in restoring balance in their lives. We want children of every background and ability to experience the wonder of nature, the promise of conservation, and the reason we should all come together to protect it.
