The AASHTO/NSBA Steel Bridge Collaboration just released a resource with everything you need to design, detail, and fabricate steel bent caps! Steel bent caps create long spans for bridges that cross roadways, railroads, or other features with nearly parallel alignment to the bridge. The new guide, G12.2 - Guidelines for Steel Bent Caps, is the result of collaborative efforts among industry experts, state DOTs, engineers, fabricators, and researchers. #TBT In 2013, Gerdau North America in Cartersville, Ga. celebrated SteelDay by hosting students for a mill tour! Students from Georgia Tech and Southern Polytechnic State University got to see how the mill uses an electric arc furnace to recycle scrap into new structural steel.
