I hear people talking about 'HOMELESS PEOPLE out there. They just stand on the streets like druggies and won't work'. WOW...is all I can say. How ENTITLED you are to think that is WHO THEY ARE~ It is not! I ask you to come spend a week with us at TEAM WORKZ, hear their stories, and see what they are doing to get off the streets and have a REAL LIFE again. Hear how hard they are working and trying to do better for their families (many have kids with them). Living on the streets (or hotels when they can get them) is NOT LIVING! Services are not plentiful in MoCo like many think they are. It is hard to get help when they need it. Most won't qualify due to a lack of resources or other reasons. TEAM WORKZ is doing all we can to help people in NEED, to transition into a safe living space, and help find jobs, and offer them the basic needs everyone should have. Our Partner groups do what they can, and we try to work together when it is suitable for the client. Next time you see someone having a hard time and living on the streets, in a vehicle, or able to get a hotel for a day or two, don't be so quick to judge them. June is quickly approaching us, and the weather is being finicky as always in North Carolina. This cooler rainy weather is rough on the homeless living outside. We have been asked to provide new tents and duct tape to repair older tents that are leaking. Food supplies are disappearing faster due to increased demand for food. The summer heat will be picking up, and it will be miserably hot soon. That increases the demand for water to drink. Thankfully, TEAM WORKZ has been able to help most of those coming in for supplies. We still need YOUR HELP for our pantry needs and to provide more hotel rooms for our Extreme Weather Program. The call for more shelter is coming in for families and others right now. It is heartbreaking to see a single mom trying to manage and having to struggle so hard daily. Several moms with kids are staying at local hotels and are just barely able to make it day to day. TEAM WORKZ helps those we can. If you know of someone in need and they can come into TEAM WORKZ HQ and meet with our TEAM, we will help them find resources that are available for them.
